Black History Month: Wikipedia Editing - Kickoff & Training Online
Help Improve Black Histories on Wikipedia
Wikipedia is one of the most heavily used reference websites in the world. Though it's a well-used resource, it's not perfect—gaps in representation persist, often due to systemic bias. This Black History Month, we’re hosting Wikipedia editing events to improve coverage of Black histories, and you can make a difference!
No experience needed. Whether you have been editing Wikipedia for years or are brand new, we’ve got you covered with training, resources, and support.

How to Prepare
-
Create a Wikipedia account (don’t worry—we can help you at the kickoff if you need it). Learn why an account matters.
-
Once you have an account, join the UNH Black History Month Wikipedia Editing Dashboard to track your contributions. The dashboard will stay open through Friday, February 28 if you want to edit on your own time.
The 2025 Black History Month theme, African Americans and Labor, might give you inpsiration for topics to edit—but feel free to bring your own ideas, too! We’ll provide some suggestions as well.
Together, let’s help ensure Black histories are visible, accurate, and well-documented on Wikipedia!
