Exhibit: No More Stolen Sisters In-Person
This November, the No More Stolen Sisters exhibit will feature numerous red dresses on display throughout Dimond Library. This exhibit by artist Jenny Tibbits commemorates the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (#MMIW) rooted in a lack of legal protections and the systematic erosion of Tribal sovereignty stretching back more than 500 years. In the mid-1600s, numerous Indigenous people from the Durham area were taken from their tribal lands, sold into slavery, sexually assaulted, domestically abused, or murdered. They are not forgotten.
