Exile. Experience & Testimony

Exile. Experience & Testimony

November 13 - December 15, 2018
Exile. Experience and Testimony, a traveling panel exhibition of materials drawn from the German Exile Archive 1933–1945 of the German National Library, is now available at the University of New Hampshire Museum. This touring exhibition features representations of archives and artifacts that testify to experiences of Germans living in exile in the United States.

The German Exile Archive 1933–1945 collects the writings and personal papers of German-speaking exiles from the Nazi dictatorship. The United States admitted over 130,000 German-speaking refugees during this period. In recognition of these events, the exhibition is a part of the “Year of German-American Friendship Initiative 2018/19,” organized by the German Federal Foreign Office, the Goethe-Institut, and the Federation of German Industries.
